Parcul „Valea Trandafirilor”
Parcul „Valea Trandafirilor” is the largest green space in southern Chișinău: three lakes linked by trails, sports pitches and a café, in the Botanica district, about three kilometres from the centre.
The park where Chișinău runs
Ask a local where people run in the capital and the answer is Valea Trandafirilor. The park stretches across the Botanica district in the south of the city and has the size needed for real training: long trails, varied terrain and three lakes around which the circuits are organised.
It is not only a sports park. It has sports pitches, a café and enough open ground to work simultaneously for runners, families and groups out on the grass without anyone getting in the way.
What to do there
The trails are the main draw. They can be combined into loops of different lengths, and the three lakes provide natural reference points along the way. Morning and evening, the paths are full of runners.
The sports pitches cover the active side, the café takes care of the break, and the open spaces are heavily used at weekends. The park is listed as suitable for children.
Accessibility — the best in the city
This is where Valea Trandafirilor clearly stands out. The park has accessible parking for disabled visitors, a wheelchair-accessible entrance, an accessible toilet and accessible seating. It is the only park in the capital that ticks all four.
Parking is also free: there is both free on-site parking and free on-street parking. If you are coming by car, it is the easiest park in Chișinău to reach.
Hours and getting there
Open 24 hours a day, every day of the week, no ticket. It is on Valea Trandafirilor Street in Botanica, about three kilometres south-east of Piața Marii Adunări Naționale — 15–20 minutes by car from the centre.
When to go
Early morning, for running and quiet. Late afternoon, for atmosphere. Spring and autumn offer the best conditions for walking long distances; in summer, the lake shores are the coolest spots.
Weekends are busy, especially around the café and the sports pitches.
What to combine it with
You are in Botanica, so the Amusement Park on Trandafirilor Street is a few minutes away and takes care of an afternoon with children. Parcul „Serghei Lazo” is also in the area, if you want to see what an ordinary neighbourhood park looks like.
For a meal, the restaurants list also covers the districts outside the centre. If you are building a 48-hour itinerary, the visitor guides explain how the south of the city links up with the central routes.
