A car gives you the freedom to reach the wineries, monasteries and villages outside Chișinău, many of which are hard to get to on public transport.

Car hire companies operate at Chișinău International Airport and in the city. Prices start at around €25 a day, depending on the model and the season.
What you need
- A valid driving licence
- A card for the deposit
- Your identity document
Road conditions
- Traffic in Chișinău can be heavy
- Main roads are generally good; the secondary roads out to the villages can be rougher
- Make sure your motor insurance is valid
